ASHTABULA COUNTY

54th GENEVA GRAPE JAMBOREE
Dates:  September 23-24, 2017
Location:  Downtown Geneva, the intersection of Route 534 and Route 20.

The Geneva Area Grape Jamboree celebrates the harvesting of the local grapes. Visitors may taste freshly squeezed grape juice, wine, and various other grape products. All grand-stand entertainment, including the grape stomping contest, is free. Miss Grapette is featured in the two giant parades each afternoon: Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Rides, crafts, food, and other concessions pack the downtown streets during this grape filled weekend.

CUYAHOGA COUNTY

Many live performances and hands on activities. Something for all members of the family, free admission! Tickets for the quilt raffle are $1 each or 6 for $5. Tickets for the cow pie lottery are $5 each, win up to $2,000 if the entire grid of tickets for this lottery is sold in time for the cow to “make her deposit” in one of the squares on the lawn! FallFest: 18th Century Festival

Help celebrate the pioneers of the Western Reserve at Cleveland Metroparks annual FallFest: 18th Century Festival. This fun, free, family-oriented event takes place in the great outdoors of Brecksville Reservation. Between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., you can enjoy the lively strains of folk music, dip your own candle, play with pioneer toys, and see how tin figurines are made. You’ll hear the hammer of the blacksmith, the danceable beat of the Mud in Yer Eye band, and the gunfire of the Brigade of the American Revolution. Bring the whole family to smell the wood smoke, taste the fresh-pressed cider, marvel at the magician, and children can make a pot of posies to take home. In addition, pony rides, food and souvenirs will be available for sale. History was never so much fun! Plenty of free parking & free shuttle rides are available.

WOOL JAMBOREE & ANTIQUE TRACTOR SHOW

Lake Metroparks Farmpark continues a tradition of celebrating the harvest season with the Wool Jamboree & Antique Tractor Show!

Sheep were shorn of their winter coats in the spring to obtain wool. This lustrous fiber is used to make many wonderful products from clothing to blankets. Learn how to spin and weave and make felt. Watch our border collie herd sheep and meet fiber-producing sheep.

Tractors have been used throughout the years for use in the harvest. See and hear antique tractors as the tractors parade through the park and talk with their owners about the restoration process.

The 44th Annual “Johnny Appleseed Festival” opens with a celebration of Johnny Appleseed’s 242nd birthday. Come and enjoy two days of entertainment on different stages, handmade crafts, paired with mouth-watering food including our signature Apple Butter Barbecue Ribs. And remember, Pumpkin Village will be open for you to take a walk through the corn maze, slide down the super slide, enjoy a relaxing hayride through the orchard, and spend some time playing in the jump park! SUMMIT COUNTY

BARBERTON MUM FEST

The dazzling floral display will provide a brilliant backdrop for a weekend filled with FREE family entertainment, arts and crafts, gardening tips, and fabulous foods.

MUM FEST 2017 will include water ski shows, canoe races on Lake Anna, roving entertainers, unique food vendors, ice carving, sand sculpting, and children’s activities.

Admission to the Mum Fest is FREE. The chrysanthemums are donated by Aris Horticulture, Inc., located in Barberton, Ohio. Aris Horticulture is a leading grower of high quality ornamental plant products. The mums are featured in colorful collage displays. In addition to the mum gardens, are garden mum hanging baskets and a floral arch of garden mums.

WAYNE COUNTY

Come get up close to fire trucks, ambulances, patrol cars, and a helicopter between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm this weekend (Activities are open 11-7 on Saturday and 1-6 on Sunday). Meet the men and women who serve in nearby communities. All first responders and active or retired military personnel receive FREE admission to the farm with valid ID, along with another FREE admission ticket for a family member or friend. (Admission not necessary to visit the service vehicles)
