(Painesville, OH) On Tuesday August 1, 2017 from 4 – 8 pm on the grounds of the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse (Fairport Harbor, OH), the Lake County Visitors Bureau is hosting a picnic style BBQ event to aid the Fairport Harbor Historical Society in its fund-raising efforts toward lighthouse restorations.
Scott H. Dockus (Executive Director, Lake County Visitors Bureau) states, “Community outreach is a primary component of the visitor’s bureaus’ new civic engagement initiative.” Dockus continued, “This BBQ event has been planned as a way for the visitors’ bureau to give back to the community”. “The bureau is typically not in the event planning business, but I thought it important to plan an event as an opportunity for us to become engaged with the community while to helping preserve a Lake County treasure.”
The BBQ / fund-raising event has two purposes; 1) to raise awareness of the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse and its importance within Lake County, and 2) to provide an opportunity to experience the lighthouse and climb its 69 steps, in addition to meeting those involved with the lighthouse restoration project, Lake County and Fairport Harbor civic leaders, members of the Lake County Visitors Bureau, and fellow Lake County citizens.
The family friendly BBQ includes live music from electric violinist, Kent Dockus, lawn games, raffles, a silent auction that reflects Lake County’s finest, and of course great food from J&J BBQ. The Lake County Visitors Bureau as secured an Event Bright link for ticket purchase; $25 adult or $10 for children. Children three and under are free as is parking, https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lake-county-community-bbq-tickets-35972772531?aff=eac2.
