It’s that time of year again when millions of glistening lights start to appear throughout Northern Ohio.  Below you will find some of our reader’s most favorite holiday light displays.

Lighting Ceremony – November 19, 2017 | 5:30 PM-8PM
The City Commons will light up at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at the annual Winter Wonderland lighting celebration. Mayor Tom Perciak will kick off the Christmas season in Strongsville by lighting up the Commons, gazebo, clocktower and giant Christmas tree, followed by a spectacular holiday fireworks display. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in town to greet children in their “Crystal Palace.” There will also be live reindeer, horse-drawn carriage rides, an ice carver, free hot chocolate and snacks, and costumed characters.

Since 1997, Harrison Smith Park, just east of downtown Upper Sandusky, is transformed into a fabulous light show for the month of December. Through the volunteer efforts of many individuals, organizations and businesses, the 33 acres of the park are ablaze with millions of lights and a myriad of unique light displays along the drive through the park.

Magic of Lights is a dazzling 1+ mile drive-through holiday light show featuring more than 400 spectacular displays using the latest LED technology and digital animations. Experience Magic of Lights from the comfort of your own car as you drive through Northeast Ohio’s favorite family annual holiday tradition.  A portion of the proceeds from Magic of Lights will benefit UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s.

In addition to the nightly Magic of Lights event, there will be other holiday activities at Victory Park Ohio this year including the Santa Claus Run on December 9 and the opportunity to host private holiday parties on-site.

Lights on the Lake
Dates: November 26 – December 31
Location: Lakeview Park, 1800 West Erie Ave., Lorain
Cost: Free
Drive through Lakeview Park to see the light displays. The lights will be on every night beginning November 25 through the end of December. Then join us inside the Sunset Terrace at Lakeview for some hot chocolate, cookie decorating, a craft and a photo opportunity with Santa! Be sure to bring your own camera!

Toledo Zoo’s Lights Before Christmas

Youngstown Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting

The City of Youngstown and Youngstown CityScape with the cooperation of media partner WFMJ & the Downtown Youngstown community are excited to host this year’s Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Activities include: Live caroling, food & holiday vendors on Central Square & 20 Federal Place beginning at 4:30pm; Parade at 6:00pm; and the Christmas Tree lighting and Santa’s arrival at 7:00pm followed by pictures with Santa in 20 Federal Place. Other coordinated activities include: Youngstown Flea Holiday Flea (Market) at DeYor Performing Arts Center; YSU Student Activities sponsored “Dueling Piano’s” at Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts; Free admission to OH WOW! The Annual Holiday Light Display at Stadium Park has been part of the community for over 15 years. The light display is FREE and open to the public with an enjoyable drive through stadium Park. The lights are on from approximately 5pm to 11pm.

If people buy their tickets prior to the day of the event they will receive a discount and will enjoy early admission to the event at 5 p.m. The zoo will be decorated with thousands of lights and many lightened displays. Every twenty minutes guests will enjoy a spectacular lighting show synchronized to music. The event will also include visits with Santa, a S’more’s station, that people can roast their own marshmallows, carousel rides, train rides and more.
