FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Rabbit Run Theater presents Youth Production, “Junie B. Jones, Jr., the Musical”
MADISON, OH – “Junie B. Jones, Jr., the Musical” opens July 14 at Rabbit Run Theater as this year’s youth production at the theater.
An adaptation of Barbara Park’s best-selling books, “Junie B. Jones, Jr., the Musical”, brings to life Park’s beloved Junie B. Jones as she stumbles through her first day of first grade.
Doning her purple glasses and armed with her “top secret personal beeswax” journal, Junie B., sings and dances her way through the first grade, as she learns to face life’s challenges head-on and turn bad situations into good ones.
The show is directed and musically directed by Molly Lorek, who is making her directorial debut at Rabbit Run. Lorek has performed and worked backstage for numerous productions at theaters across Northeast Ohio, and for the past four years served as the drama director at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School.
“I am thrilled for audiences to witness the incredible talent of these young actors and actresses,” said Lorek. “They bring an immense amount of energy, passion, silliness, and reality to their characters. ‘Junie B. Jones, Jr.’ is a great way to connect to your inner-child and remember to enjoy the simple things in life, like a brand new lunch box or a big sugar cookie.”
“Junie B. Jones, Jr., the Musical”, with book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich, will delight the entire family just as Park’s books captivated an entire generation of students.
Performing the role of Junie is nine-year-old Keelie Hagan. While this is Keelie’s first lead role, she has performed in several productions at the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby.
Tickets for all performances are available by calling the box office at 440-428-7092, Wednesday through Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. or on line at www.rabbitrun.org. Tickets are $17, adult; $15, senior and student; and $13 for youth 12 and under.
Thanks to the generosity of Hearn Plumbing Heating & Air in Madison, all youth tickets on July 16 are free. Mention “Hearn Day” to take advantage of this offer when calling the box office.
The show is rated for general audiences.
