The 7th Annual Spooky Pooch Parade is Saturday October 15, 2016. The Downtown Lakewood area filled with proud pet owners parading their dogs in this favorite event. The only one of its kind in the region, Spooky Pooch attracts pet lovers from all over Northeast Ohio. RAIN OR SHINE Join in the fun as dogs of all shapes and sizes dressed in their finest Halloween fashions strut their stuff in the heart of Lakewood’s business district.

Back for it’s 22nd year, Old Fashioned Christmas in the Woods returns to the Shaker Woods grounds October 15-16. The woods will be transformed into a holiday wonderland. Each craftsperson will be demonstrating their unique skills and creating hand-crafted holiday gift items right before your eyes. Craftspeople include woodworkers, floral designers, blacksmiths, potters, tole painters, basket weavers and many others. Plenty of delicious food. All the teachers are sick so it’s up to Holly, a student witch, to go to the annual Halloween Conference. What if she gets lost? No problem. A friend, Jack O’Lantern, shows Holly how to use the stars to find her way around the night sky. The two explore a few Halloween superstitions and Holly learns how to say “Happy Halloween” in cat, bat and goblin. The history and traditions of Halloween are presented in a fun, non-scary style, making this show ideal for all ages.

SUMMIT COUNTY

BOO AT THE ZOO

Admission: Tickets for Boo at the Akron Zoo are $12 for trick-or-treaters and $9 for observers. Akron Zoo member observers are $2.

The event includes 12 themed treat stations kids can trick-or-treat at, including a new treat station. This safe and non-scary event allows visitors to enjoy festive decorations and light displays throughout the zoo, while visiting the animals. The zoo is only open for Boo at the Zoo on the days of the event.

Favorite themed trick-or-treating stations returning include the witches, construction, enchanted forest, trains and more. New this year is a holiday themed station, highlighting the zoo bringing back their holiday lighting event, Wild Lights, for the holidays. Visitors will be able to enjoy all the zoo’s animals and experiences like the carousel, train and more.
