The 2018 summer season at Rabbit Run Theater closes with Leonard Nimoy’s “Vincent”

MADISON, OH – To close out the 2018 summer season, Leonard Nimoy’s one-man show “Vincent” opens at Rabbit Run Theater, Friday, Aug. 24, and runs through Sept. 1.

Vincent Van Gogh’s story is more than that of a misunderstood genius.  Told through the eyes of his brother, Theo, Van Gogh is revealed as few knew him as a symbol of courage, inspiration and passion. Nimoy adapted this play taking inspiration from hundreds of letters between Van Gogh and his brother.

Van Gogh was a post-impressionist painter whose work influenced 20th-century art. He struggled with mental illness, and remained poor and virtually unknown throughout his life.  In his 37 years, he completed more than 2,100 works of art, including oil paintings, watercolors, drawings and sketches.

“Vincent” is staged and performed by Brint Learned, executive director of Rabbit Run Community Arts Association (RRCAA) in Madison.  For the past 20 years, Learned has acted and directed at numerous theaters in Northeast Ohio, including The Fine Arts Association, The Beck Center for the Arts, Lakeland Civic Theatre, Lake Erie College and Ashtabula Arts Center.

“Not surprisingly”, said Learned, “the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh fascinates the world to this day. Played against the backdrop of Vincent’s paintings and drawings, the play is both visually and emotionally compelling.”

“Told with great warmth and humor through the memories of his brother Theo, Vincent’s journey is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Vincent’s letters to his brother allow us to understand the thoughts and emotions of this complicated and sometimes tortured genius.”

Tickets for all performances are available by calling the box office at 440-428-7092, Wednesday through Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. or on line atwww.rabbitrunonline.org.  Tickets are $24/adult, $22/senior, student and $11 for youth ages 12 and under.  For group packages and rates call 440-428-5913.
