Noah’s Lost Ark Exotic Animal Sanctuary

Location: 8424 Bedell Road, Berlin Center, OH
330.584.7835 | noahslostark.org

Located right outside of Canfield Ohio between Youngstown and Akron off Rt. 224 you will find a very special animal sanctuary. Noah’s Lost Ark Exotic Animal and Rescue Center is a place that animals are given a second chance.

These animals arrive at the sanctuary from abusive situations or places they can no longer be cared for.

“Unlike a zoo, a sanctuary is a place that provides a permanent, safe home to unwanted and abused exotic animals.”  All the of sanctuary’s funding comes from donations and admission fees.

Seasonal hours: Visit their website for current rates and hours.

THE ANIMALS

Although the animals may change, the day of our visit we were able to view two African lions (one who happened to be blind), two tigers, including a Bengal tiger and a white tiger. Donkeys, goats, a Canadian Lynx, bears, and more.

The sanctuary is not large.  We would suggest allowing at least 2-3 hours to walk the grounds and shop the gift shop.  The day of our visit many of the larger cats were resting in the shade.  The goats, donkeys, and the horses were happy to snuggle up to the fence for a carrot handout (sold at the gift shop).

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
  • When you purchase your admission tickets, you can also purchase food to give to some of the animals.
  • There is a gift shop on the premises.
  • There is a picnic area if you would like to bring a picnic.
  • Benches are available along the way for resting and watching the animals.
  • Many of the pathways are gravel.
  • Public rest rooms are available.
  • The sanctuary offers wagons to rent.
  • Dress for the weather.
  • Although we had no issue, if you want to bring along bug spray if it’s humid, it may be a good idea. The area is surrounded by tall grass and trees.

SUPPORT THE SANCTUARY

Located on their website is a list of items that the sanctuary could always use, including pet food, as well as maintenance items.

Family or group idea:  Have everyone gather items to donate and pack a picnic to enjoy at the sanctuary during your visit. Larger groups can arrange for a special education tour.
