Lake Metroparks presents Picture This! A Road Trip Through Ohio, a spring art show featuring a curated collection of photographs by members of the Western Reserve Photographic Society. The exhibition will be on display at Penitentiary Glen Nature Center from Saturday, March 14, through Sunday, May 10. Visitors can explore the show daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Highlighting scenes from all 88 counties—quaint towns, vibrant cities, museums, theme parks, historic landmarks, sports venues, parks (including a national park), vineyards and Lake Erie—the show invites visitors on a visual journey across Ohio’s culture, landscapes and character.

Lake Metroparks’ annual Madhatters Canoe & Kayak Race will take place on Saturday, April 25. Participants will paddle 8.5 miles along the Grand River, beginning at Ashtabula County Metroparks’ Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark and ending at Lake Metroparks’ Hidden Valley Park in Madison. Boats will depart beginning at 9 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top three finishers in various race categories determined by skill level and boat type. A “maddest hat” prize will also be awarded to the individual wearing the most creative hat during the race. All racers will receive a t-shirt and finisher’s medal.
As part of Lake County’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday, this year’s race will commemorate important events in American history: The Battles of Lexington & Concord and Paul Revere & the Riders Midnight Ride, which took place on April 18-19, 1775.
All participants must pre-register online by Sunday, April 19. Same-day and on-site registrations will not be accepted. Entry fee is $25 per person, processing fee applies.

The Ohio Craft Museum is pleased to present the “Best of 2026,” a juried exhibition showcasing contemporary fine craft by 69 artists, on view May 3–July 3, 2026. Juror Carol Savion, creator of the Peabody-award-winning PBS series, Craft in America, and owner of Freehand Gallery in Los Angeles, selected 73 works in clay, glass, metal, wood, fiber and mixed media from nearly 400 entries. Thirteen artists received awards of excellence in Ohio Designer Craftsmen’s annual members competition.
The exhibition opens with a Sunday, May 3, reception from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Ohio Craft Museum. Award recipients will be recognized at 3:00 pm. The exhibition will then travel to Kent State University, where it will be on view August 25-October 7.

Once again D-Day Ohio, Inc. will invade the Lake Erie shores of Conneaut, Ohio, and stage the largest D-Day (1944) living history reenactment in the country. Featuring over reenactors from across the US and Canada, spectators will witness men, women, and their machines perform a living tribute to the veterans of WWII through dress, mock battles, and living history displays.
Since 1999, this annual recreation of the amphibious Allied landings upon the beaches of Normandy, France, has thrilled thousands of spectators. The event occurs within the beautifully kept grounds of Conneaut Township Park, Conneaut, Ohio, and assembles over 1,200 re-enactors from across the United States and Canada. Remarkably, the 250 yard long beach and sloping adjacent terrain closely resemble Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.
