HorseFest
Lake Metroparks Farmpark
May 18 & 19 • 9 am to 5 pm
KIRTLAND – Witness the majestic beauty, splendor and grace of the horse during HorseFest at Lake Metroparks Farmpark. Horse lovers of all ages can meet horses of different colors and sizes and learn about the abilities and qualities that make each breed unique.
HorseFest will feature Brenda Hanson, performing an assortment of extreme horse obstacles first with a horse being trained on the ground and under saddle to prepare it for obstacles and then with a horse that is well trained with obstacles. Brenda will also host a competition between herself and several of her riders going through a timed obstacle course. Brenda, along with her seven-year-old quarter horse gelding PVF Frosted Ace, clinched this year’s “Champion” title at the 2019 Ohio Equine Affaire’s Versatile Horse & Rider Competition in April.
Sam and Kellie Rittenger from Whispery Pines Percherons return this year providing special appearances by Annie Oakley (with a stagecoach hold up), Wonder Woman and Cinderella.
HorseFest showcases an array of exciting, informative and entertaining equine demonstrations and will feature the Gypsy Vanner, Quarter Horse, Baskir Curly, Paint, Friesian, Clydesdale, Mustang, Minis, Thoroughbred, Belgian, Percherons, and Haflinger. Stagecoach rides pulled by either draft or miniature horses will be offered, weather permitting.
Young cowboys and cowgirls can groom and drive a miniature horse and pose for horse-related photo ops and more. Pony rides are available ($5 each), weather permitting.
HorseFest, presented by Ganley Village Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat and sponsored by Centerra Coop, rides into Lake Metroparks Farmpark 9 am to 5 pm May 18 & 19. This event is included with regular Farmpark admission. Farmpark members and children younger than two are free. 4-H groups receive discounted admission.
