Medina’s 40th Annual Candlelight Walk
Sponsored post.
It’s the 40th year for Medina’s favorite holiday tradition! The Candlelight Walk, sponsored by Root Candles, November 22-24, kicks off with the official lighting of the Medina Square and Historic District on Friday night and continues with the Holiday Parade of Lights and Fireworks on Saturday night, carriage rides and screenings of “The Grinch” on Sunday and of course, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Medina Square and Historic District lights up with holiday magic when Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell, along with council members and the Root Family pull the switch in the Gazebo on Friday, November 22 at 7pm. In addition to the lights, more than 2,000 luminaries donated by Root Candles, Plastipak and Medina Supply will be positioned around the square by the Medina Odd Fellows and lit by Scout Troop 501.
The Holiday Parade of Lights, sponsored by Trillium Creek, will brighten the streets on Saturday night culminating with Santa’s arrival, sponsored by Armstrong. Following the parade, a spectacular holiday fireworks display, sponsored by Lit Fiber Medina and The Olive Tap will fill the sky above Medina County Courthouse.
Shuttles will be available to transport visitors around to the various events, sponsored by Cool Beans, Dominic’s Ristorante and Summa Health. The free shuttles will be running Saturday between 4 and 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 6pm from the Common Ground on Marks Road, Medina High School Performing Arts Center and Medina County Fairgrounds Community Center on Lafayette Rd.
Throughout the weekend there will be so many fun holiday activities, like: the Broadway Street Holiday Market, visits with Santa at Santa’s House, sponsored by Serpentini Chevrolet, and Angel Wings Selfie Station, Kindness Challenge and Tree of Remembrance presented by Waite Funeral Homes in Bicentennial Commons. On Saturday there will be a petting zoo, Santa’s Workshop at Huntington Bank, ice carving demonstration, s’mores served by Discount Drug Mart, and performance of scenes from Show Biz Theatre’s “A Christmas Carol.” On Sunday there will be Breakfast with Santa, live reindeer and screenings of “The Grinch.” This is only a small part of the schedule of fun activities for the weekend.
