Visitors Bureaus Collaborate to Promote Lake Erie
AUSTINBURG, March 9, 2018 – The seven visitors’ bureaus along Ohio’s north coast have partnered to give away a 7-day, 7-night Lake Erie experience called TOUR THE SHORE.
One lucky winner will receive a week of overnight accommodations and tickets to area attractions at a new location each day. This is the second year for the contest. In 2017, Sheila McGee from Cuyahoga Falls was awarded the prize which she generously shared with family members.
“There is so much to do in the Lake Erie region,” said Stephanie Siegel, Executive Director at the Ashtabula County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This promotion makes people aware of affordable, accessible vacation options within close proximity to each other. Lake Erie is the perfect backdrop for a getaway with great food, drinks and so many things to do.”
The tour begins in Toledo on June 1st at the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, dinner at the world-famous Tony Packo’s and an overnight stay at Maumee Bay Resort & Conference Center located in Maumee Bay State Park filled with endless recreational opportunities.
Travel to Sandusky County on day two for a step back in time at the Rutherford B Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. Bottle your own wine at Ski Lodge Winery in Clyde before dinner at Chud’s Market & Grill and overnight accommodations at Comfort Inn & Suites in Fremont.
June 3rd, the lucky winner will discover their #LakeErieLove at Ohio’s Lake Erie Shores & Islands. First, they will hop on a ferry to Kelleys Island where a golf cart will be waiting to explore the largest of Ohio’s Lake Erie islands. Here they can see the world’s largest glacial grooves and a quaint and friendly village filled with unique shops and delicious dining. Upon returning to the mainland, the getaway will include overnight accommodations at Marblehead’s Red Fern Inn, home to Rocky Point Winery.
Relax at your choice of Lakeview Beach Vacation Rentals in Lorain on day four and enjoy a meal with a view at Jackalope Lakeside. Spend June 5th downtown with Destination Cleveland providing a visit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, a meal on trendy East 4th Street at celebrity chef Michael Symon’s famed restaurant, Lola and an overnight in the beautiful new Westin Cleveland Downtown, walking distance to several iconic Cleveland landmarks.
On day six, the winner heads east to Lake County for a night at the Captains baseball game and overnight at the Holiday Inn. Sleep well before the finale in Ashtabula County on June 7th with a fishing charter on Lake Erie from T&V Charters, a zipline experience at Lake Erie Canopy Tours and tickets to the play Harvey at Rabbit Run Theater.
