ICONIC ROOT BEER STANDS IN OHIO.
Are you a root beer aficionado? Do you enjoy your root beer served in a frozen glass or over ice cream? Do you find yourself stopping at root beer drive-ins to enjoy a glass of your favorite drink? Then you understand that there is nothing like the taste of a cold root beer on a warm sunny day.
To help “drink to” our love of root beer, I have listed below a few of the iconic Ohio root beer stands that I have enjoyed while touring around Ohio. This year, I hope you find time to take a road trip to one of these local favorites and enjoy one of their nostalgic home made root beers.

This A&W Root Beer Stand is just one of 15+ located throughout the State of Ohio. (See website for other listings.) For those of us who have spent time at a neighborhood A&W with their fresh brewed root beer and iconic glasses, it just would not be right to not include them in a list of iconic root beer stands located in Ohio.
The A&W in my hometown has long since closed, but followers of My Ohio Fun have often talked about the A&W in Ravenna, so of course I needed to take a road trip. Still glass mugs!
Menu items include burgers, coney dogs, sides, chicken, and their “Made Fresh Root Beer”.

I found this root beer stand quite by chance. I happen to be heading to do a story on Italian bakeries and came across this little gem just minutes off Route 8 in Cuyahoga Falls.

Would it really be a visit to Geneva-on-the-Lake without a stop at Eddie’s Grill? This 50’s style diner serves all your American favorites including their famous Slovenian sausage, hot dogs, cheeseburgers and fries. Yep. As noted. The crinkle fries are good. Don’t forget a glass of their famous ice cold root beer. Perfect combination to round out your meal.

Get the turkey sandwich they said. Really? Well I am glad I did. Not at all what I expected. I can see why this drive-in is such a local and tourist favorite stop.
Est. 1952. Their famous turkey sandwich is still made the same way, using the original family recipe. Make sure you order a RICHardson Root Beer. If you dine there, you can have it in a frosted mug!

A local favorite, Woody’s menu includes hot dogs, homemade coney sauce, hamburgers, fish and tuna sandwiches, grilled cheese and sides. Milkshakes and their famous Woody’s Root Beer. Just a few minutes from the Pro Football of Fame and minutes off the I-77 freeway.
