If you’re seeking some rejuvenation from all the hustle and bustle, a visit to Carroll County, Ohio may be just what you need. Come explore our historical downtown, unique eateries and eclectic shops. This area is filled with small town charm and offers something for everyone.
When visiting Carroll County there some key staples in our community you must see. I encourage you to begin your day with breakfast at the Carroll County airport a few miles outside of town, and be sure to save some room for pie. The locals will be happy to share with you, their favorites. In warmer months you can snag a seat on the patio and watch the planes take off while enjoying your meal.
The town square should be your next stop to visit some staples in the community. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can explore the McCook House Civil War Museum located at the top of the square. Followed by one for the whole family, the Ashton’s ¢5 and ¢10 Store. With creaky floors and endless rows of items you never knew you needed, from crafting materials to bulk candy, it’s easy to get lost in time here.
A few doors down to the right, you’ll find the Grand Tea Room in the old Van Horne Building. Loaded with historical value and an enchanting atmosphere, this is a dining experience you’re bound to remember and want to revisit. The dining room is a time capsule in itself with its Victorian décor and timeless treasures and trinkets, not to mention their delicious food.
Around the corner you will find their newest edition, Reminisce, a 1950’s themed parlor opening in late summer 2023. And if that’s not sweet enough, on the other side of the Ashton’s store is Betty Kaye Bakery, Carroll County’s oldest bakery, who is reputably known for their brownies. Take a stroll across the street and venture in to Buds Farm Toys. You’ll be sure to bring something home for the little ones in your life. Honorable mentions to some of the newer locations to grace downtown, Downtown Alley, a funky antique store and Your What Not Shop a small, hip, bohemian shop. Also located in our town square is the Convention and Visitors Bureau stop by M-F for suggestions on parks, trails, lakes, coffee shops, golf courses, restaurants, museums and whatever you’re seeking.

> Most shopping, dining and accommodation locations take credit cards. However, be prepared for roadside stands and farmers markets with cash. There are ATM’s throughout the county.
What to bring:
A camera, a good pair of walking shoes and an appetite. Always pack a cooler for those perishables you may find along the way.
