When was the last time you had a roasted ear of sweet corn smothered in butter?
Every spring right after the final frost, Ohio farmers begin to plant their fields of corn. And every year, like the farmers, we wait. We check it’s growth to see if the stalks are knee high by 4th of July. We wait some more. Then suddenly about mid-July, as if right on cue, ears of corn start to appear on the stalks. The farmers begin to harvest their crops and Ohio celebrates another year’s corn harvest with local festivals. This year why not plan to celebrate the harvesting of this Ohio crop by enjoying a local festival. Remember it’s okay to get a little corny.
CORN FESTIVALS
Below, I share a list of upcoming Ohio corn festivals. The festivals are listed by date. Please note that I have made every attempt to list accurate information.
🌽 NORTH RIDGEVILLE CORN FESTIVAL
Dates: August 7-9, 2026
Location: between State Route 83 and Root Road on Bainbridge Road

🌽 BRECKSVILLE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION CORN ROAST
Dates: August 9, 2026
Time: 1pm-5pm
Location: Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH

We will be roasting freshly picked corn in the husk and serving it dripping in butter. We will also be grilling hot dogs and rounding out the menu with dessert, lemonade, IBC Root Beer, and water.
Tours of the Squire Rich Museum will be available during the afternoon. Come and hear the docents explain what life was like in the 1880’s. The Chippewa Garden Club members will also be on hand to conduct tours of the herb garden and answer questions about the herbs and their many uses.

🌽 MY FAVORITE OHIO CORN STOP
If your road trip takes you through Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP), be sure to stop at one of my favorite area markets, Szalay’s Farm & Market. You’ll find plenty of local produce, including their famous corn. If you visit during the outdoor eatery hours listed below, you can enjoy a fresh-picked ear of roasted corn dipped in butter upon request. And honestly, who wouldn’t want the butter?
Szalay’s is a great additional itinerary stop to your CVNP adventure.
