It’s that time of year again when millions of glistening lights start to appear throughout Ohio. Below you will find some of our reader’s most favorite holiday light displays.

Every evening November 25th – December 24th the Castle becomes the most magical, jolly place to be! Our popular holiday tradition, Christmas at the Castle a Kingdom of Lights, returns for another year and is bigger and better for 2022! Stroll the grounds and soak up the Holiday Spirit with over 150,000 lights, outdoor Christmas trees and, of course, your favorite Holiday tunes! If you’ve been nice, you might even meet the man himself—Jolly Old Saint Nick drops down the chimney at The Pavilion to meet children of all ages every Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 8pm November 25th – December 24th.
Admission on Friday and Saturday is $8 per car and free all other evenings.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is transforming into a winter wonderland this holiday season with Wild Winter Lights presented by NOPEC. This year’s event features hundreds of lighting displays along the holiday trail through Cleveland Metroparks Zoo beginning November 15. Wild Winter Lights will add over 1.5 million lights across holiday themed areas including Candyland, Enchanted Forest, Starry Skies, Future for Wildlife Trail and Santa’s Workshop, where guests can take photos with Santa.

Lighting Ceremony – November 20, 2022| 5:30 PM-8PM
The Winter Wonderland Lighting Celebration will take place Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022 on the Commons, corner of Pearl and Royalton roads. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the giant tree, clocktower, gazebo and decorations. There will be a holiday fireworks show, and Santa will arrive to meet with kids in the gazebo. NEW THIS YEAR will be the Holiday Lights Trolley, which will take guests on a tour of the Town Center. The Magical Train will visit Freedom Trail and the adjacent Historical Village, which will have an open house. Also new: The Celebration Ringers handbell choir will perform a concert after the fireworks. The Strongsville City Club will provide free hot chocolate and donuts, and the BA Sweetie candy truck will be there with a free treat for everyone. There will be new decorations, too, including a tunnel of lights.

Journey BOREALIS Holiday Light Show is a 2.5 mile magical drive-through trip to the North Pole. The journey starts with glimmering trees and arches before winding through the blue-and-white glow of Jerusalem’s Hanukkah celebration and arriving to the park’s famed Swan Lake. Visitors will then travel through Germany’s Candy Cane Forest (with more than 50 yarn-wrapped trees), the Grinch’s Greenland, Bethlehem’s birth of Jesus, and finally arriving at the North Pole. Before exiting, we have one last surprise provided by Brave Berlin (creators of Blink) with a spectacular transformation of our Pavilion. Visitors are encouraged to download the Otocast app on their phones in advance, to enjoy the show’s soundtrack performed by the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra and vocals by Cincinnati Boychoir. The estate is decorated with one million holiday lights, and the Manor House decorations are inspired by the theme of Gracious Gatherings. The look is a traditional Christmas —with some whimsy in the mix — for all to enjoy. Traditional: The Music Room will be decorated in red, green and gold, and highlight Gertrude Seiberling’s musical talents. In a departure from previous years, the room will stay fully furnished and holiday dresses from Gertrude and other family members will be part of the display. Whimsical: The West Porch will be filled with animals in tuxes, gnomes taking a bubble bath and a woodland Santa in a forest with a flocked tree.
