Enjoy a cup of tea at one of Ohio’s area tea rooms.
Updated 10/15/24.
I have a secret to share. I love tea rooms. Whether I am enjoying tea with a family member, friends or while reading a really good book, there is just something about tea rooms and those darling teacups, fancy tea sandwiches, delectable scones and pots of tea-infused water that seems to draw me to tea rooms any chance I get.
Over the past few years, I have made it my personal mission to seek out all the tea rooms located around Ohio. Enjoy a pot of tea, sample their scones, and take time to explore the towns and areas around them. Hopefully, one day I can say I have enjoyed tea at all of them.
But for now, as I travel around Ohio enjoying my pots of tea and scones, as well as my little moments of serenity, I will share information about the tea rooms I visit, as well as a few of My Ohio Fun Road Trip notes, listing additional areas of interest near each tearoom. As I continue to visit Ohio’s tea rooms, I will update the list.
As always, thanks for following @MyOhioFun on social media.
One more thing. I rescue English teacups from garage sales. Is that too much information?
Emerald Necklace Inn
Bed & Breakfast and Tea Room
Built in 1863 during the civil war, this historic Inn and tearoom is just minutes from the Rocky River Reservation (Cleveland Metroparks) and area shopping. The tearoom has a Victorian flair, mismatched tea cups and tea pots line the walls and shelves, among other period decorations.
The tearoom menu is not expansive but offers everything you would want if going out to tea with friends. The day of my visit I enjoyed the Emerald High Tea which included a delightful salad, a slice of quiche with a fruit cup, three tea sandwiches, a sampling of four desserts, and a scone (rating 7) alongside tea bread.
The service was attentive, and our pots of tea steeped in our pots over a warm flame.

Quintealia’s Tea Parlor
A few years ago I had to opportunity to bring one of my “Fall in Love with Ohio” bus tours to this charming Victorian tea parlor located on the Square in Burton, OH. Quintealia’s Tea Parlor resides in the historic Ford House, a 1891 mansion built by George H. Ford, Burton’s first mayor. Since my first tour, I have had the pleasure of taking additional tours and friends to this quaint tea room.
A few of my favorite Quintealia menu selections include their Cottage Pies, the Farmer’s Market Quiche and their Afternoon Tea service. You can not go wrong ordering any one of their dessert selections, including their fresh baked scones. (Scone rating 9.)

During my most recent visit, I enjoyed the Afternoon Tea (pictured below). The tea consisted tea sandwiches, a sliver of quiche, a cup of soup and a pot of tea. I also enjoyed the scone of the day. (Scone rating 8) The price at the time was just under $22. (2024) During previous visits I have enjoyed the Piccadilly Trio, a trio of sandwiches and a choice or soup or salad.

Miss Hickory’s Tea Room
Miss Hickory’s Tea Room resides in the home of Strongsville’s first blacksmith. Owners Joe and Cona purchased the 1830 farmhouse and converted the historic home into the tea room.
When you enter the front parlor you will be greeted by friendly staff and a “tea steeping station”. Make sure you check out the cute tea cup lights. The staff is dressed in early 1900’s attire, and the whole atmosphere will make you feel like you have stepped back in time.
I can now say I have enjoyed tea service twice at Miss Hickory’s Tea Room. The first time, I ordered the quiche of the day, along with the broccoli side salad. And for dessert, I enjoyed their Signature Chocolate Cream-Filled Cake. What’s not to love about a chocolate cake that has a marshmallow buttercream frosting and a chocolate ganache icing. Even the doily and pearls were edible.
During my most recent visit, I sampled their chicken salad sandwich, which included grapes, dried cranberries, shopped walnuts and celery in a creamy dressing. I also enjoyed a cup of chicken pot pie, which happened to be their soup of the day and of course a side of their delicious strawberry pretzel salad.
Miss Hickory’s Tea Room is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon of tea with friends or family. Don’t feel like cooking the next day? Order a few of your favorites to enjoy later.

Located in the Grand Pacific Junction Historic District of Olmsted Falls, Clementine’s has been an area favorite for years. Not only can you enjoy a relaxing tea, you can purchase a selection of their bakery items to go, including cakes, tortes, cheesecake, and pastries.
The day of my visit I ordered the potato crusted quiche platter. Although I enjoyed my selection, I guess you could say I am still a fan of an old school traditional dough crust for a quiche. As far as the scone, I enjoyed the berry filling as well as the jam. (Scone rating 8)
For those who enjoy more restaurant type selections, Clementine’s offers the perfect selection of salads, sandwiches, soups, and more. Perfect you want to enjoy tea with someone who enjoys a bit larger portion.

The Tea Lady Inc.
10/15/24 UPDATE: Stay tuned the tea room is currently relocating to a new location. Details coming soon.
This tea room is located in the heart of Downtown Akron. At first you will think you are entering a storefront, but once you have stepped over the threshold, you will be treated to beautifully set tables of fine china and tea pots.
Our afternoon of tea started with an introduction to the tea parlor by owner, Renea Woods-Baylor. Followed by our server delivering to our table individual pots of tea perfectly steeped and a delicious fresh fruit parfait. Next came a salad topped with strawberries, bacon, blue cheese and a vinaigrette dressing. For the Afternoon tea tiered-tray portion of our tea we were treated to an English cucumber dill sandwich, a croissant filled with chicken salad, 1/2 a scone, and a sample of three sweets each.
I was a little disappointed in the scone that was served. But, hey, I am a scone snob. It was a what I like to call a “muffin top” scone. As elegant as everything was, I really was looking forward to a more traditional scone and yes Devonshire cream.
All-in-all it was a delightful afternoon of tea and I would give The Tea Lady tea experience a “Tea Cup Rescue Society Score of 8/10″**. (The owner was so gracious.)

** TEA CUP RESCUE SOCIETY SCORING
During my many tea room excursions, I started to make notes and create a score card. Call it my way of “keeping score” of the pluses and misses of the tea rooms I visit. After all, I am President of the Tea Cup Rescue Society. The score card is just that, my own personal opinion of how I rate tea rooms. It is not meant to stop you from enjoying any of the tea rooms listed above. Everyone leaves a tea room with their own opinions. Being a scone snob, I rate hard on scones. Give extra points for Devonshire cream. And I am not a fan of pots of tea that have steeped way to long or a pot of water delivered with a basket of tea bags.
How do I score tea rooms? 1-10 scale. (10 being the highest score.) Once I have scored all categories, I then divide by 10 and give the score.
- Charm – Did the tea room have “tea room charm”.
- Presentation & service – Was the staff attentive and knowledgeable.
- Tea – How was the tea steeped. Loose tea. Deduction is given, if the tea room offers just water and a basket of tea bags to choose from.
- Menu offerings. Nice selection or limited?
- Afternoon or High Tea availability.
- Tea sandwiches – Selection. Taste. Purchased or made in-house?
- Soups and/or salads – Selection. Taste.
- Sweets/Desserts – Selection. Taste. Purchased or made in-house?
- Cost vs. value.
- Scones. Do they offer scones? Muffin style (deduction) or traditional. Was their Devonshire cream? Jam?
The Tea Cup Rescue Society Scone Rating chart.
Muffin tops – (1-3)
Cake like – (3-6)
Dry-firm scones (3-6)
Semi-cake/firm scone (5-8)
Moist but firm scones (7-9)
Moist but firm scones served with Devonshire cream (9-10)
