Christmas in July at Castle Noel: What does Santa’s Brain Look Like?

Medina, Ohio— Castle Noel, featuring America’s largest holiday movie prop collection, greets Christmas in July with the expansion of the “Enchanted I Had That Toyland Experience” and MegaWheels HotWheels grand reveal. “You never know what you’ll hear in Toyland,” says Dana Klaus. Once, a woman confessed that she cut the hair off her sister’s favorite doll. The sister was shocked, but their kids burst into laughter. It was like it happened yesterday.”

Mark Klaus says the inspiration behind this exhibit, is Santa’s Brain. “Can you imagine the thoughts inside his head? He needs toys, lots of toys.” So, Mark and Dana went hunting for toys. Fans scoured their attics. Soon, Castle Noel’s 60-seat capacity party room was bursting with beloved childhood toys from top to bottom. No room to walk. No room to sit. Panic set in. Castle Noel needed the room for SantaDay2022. “We spent days carrying everything out and back again. What a sight it was,” remarked Dana. “We needed every bit of elfin teamwork that we could muster.”

While the exhibit was under construction, Mark mused… what if? He had a vision and it required 100 moving toys. Allen, the site manager, was tasked with finding motors of every kind while Mark scrutinized every toy. “Let’s bring this Furby® to life, and this game, and these spaceships.” “Did I mention 100 different moving toys?” asked Dana.

Nobody could stop Mark. His vision kept growing. He wanted an 8-foot rotating Hot Wheels® track. “As a child, you always wanted more tracks and bigger rings. So, I built it, 400 feet of blaze orange track.” But, if one giant ring was good, then five would be better! Mark was on a mission. He wanted 3 rings curling in one direction and 2 in another direction. This required more motors and more engineering. Finally, the “Mark Klaus MEGAWHEEL HOTWHEELS” emerged.

One problem remained. He needed to attach 1000 Hot Wheels® and one custom Cousin Eddie RV to the Megawheel. Nothing is ever easy at Castle Noel. Mark’s son, Mark Jr., rose to the challenge. He took over 100 hours to paint the track (5 times) and secure 1000 cars, one by one to the exhibit. Another dilemma was solved. In the end, it took 6 months and over 5,000 hours to collect, sort, engineer, animate, and create Toyland and the Megawheel Hotwheels installation. Finally, it was time to bring this artistic engineering feat to life. Opening this July, everyone can enjoy the new Toyland Experience and Megawheel Hotwheels Installation.
