(Portage County Ohio)

You are going to want to take this trip on a Saturday, since it includes the local Farmers’ Market.

Please note that we have only included stops that are for food purchases and for exercise. Currently Ohio is under the stay-at-home order except for essentials like food and exercise. When shopping and enjoying a walk in a park, social distancing is advised. Please refer to Ohio’s COVID-19 website or call 1-833-4-ASH-ODH for current state updates and allowable travel.

STOP #1

The Haymaker’s Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday.   Many of the vendors are offering a order ahead option.  Make sure you read the markets current weekly rules.  Updates are posted regularly on their Facebook  page.

COVID-19 Update:  The Haymaker Farmers’ Market is open year-round, every Saturday morning in Kent. Our Winter Season (December-March) is at the United Methodist Church of Kent (1435 E Main St), from 10am-1pm. This year we open with vendors spread both Indoors and Outdoors for a walk-up Market, masks required, and 10:00-10:30am reserved for self-identified vulnerable populations.

STOP #3 – Breads, pastries and Saturday night Pizza. 

Everything is made from scratch at this European style bakery.  Wood-fired breads, pastries, scones, pretzels, pastries, and more.  Including organic bread flour and yeast.  Go online and order ahead.  When you arrive, they will bring your selections out to your car.   Don’t forget pizza Saturdays.

STOP #5

We can not stress enough about the importance of fresh air and a healthy walk.  Portage County is home to three (3) state parks.  Each park offering a place to enjoy a stroll or hike.  On this trip we suggest  you visit Wingfoot Lake State Park.   The park offers open areas and plenty of parking.   Please visit the parks website for any possible COVID-19 updates.  Please follow social distancing guidelines.
