Where to Find the Best Tasting French Fries in Ohio.

It’s never too early to start planning for National French Fry Day. 🍟 This year, the celebration happens on July 10, 2026.

If you are looking for new places to try, here are a few of my favorite stops around Ohio to enjoy a delicious plate of French fries. Check back periodically—I will continue to update this list as I find new spots worthy of a place on it.

🍟 My French fry criteria: Fresh-cut fries always taste better. I enjoy the right amount of seasoning, and I appreciate fries that can stand up to malt vinegar. Are they double-fried? Do they have crispy edges? Points for being cooked in tallow.

TASTIEST FRENCH FRIES IN OHIO

(Alphabetical order.)

Bearden’s
📍19985 Lake Rd., Rocky River, OH
beardens.com

They may be known for their juicy steakburgers, but their side of fries makes my list. Serving the community for over 75 years, they have had plenty of time to perfect their fresh-cut fries made in-house.

Berardi’s Family Kitchen
📍218 Cleveland Rd., Huron OH or
📍1019 W. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH

I am going to go ahead and say it: those old-school Cedar Point fries are still some of the best. You may not be able to get them at the amusement park anymore, but no worries—you can still find them being made the same way at either Berardi’s location.

The Courtyard Café

If I had to crown one, it would be The Courtyard Café’s French fries. They are delivered to your table in a bowl mounded high. You then grab their seasoned salt and sprinkle them to your liking. Before long, you look down and wonder, “Where did they all go?”

DeVore’s Hopocan Gardens
📍 4396 W Hopocan Ave Ext, Norton, OH 44203

Maybe it’s a nostalgia thing. The combination of greasy chicken topped with a heaping mound of French fries, coleslaw, and hot sauce makes these fries earn a spot on my list.

Eddie’s Grill
📍 5377 Lake Road East, Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH 44041

Okay, maybe the root beer and views of Lake Erie help a little, but this seasonal stop located in Geneva-on-the-Lake knows how to make fries.

Heggy’s Nut Shop
📍 3200 Tuscarawas St. W., Canton, OH

Seriously, the first time I saw a pat of butter on my French fries, I was not sure what to make of it. But after a few bites, you just get it. Did I mention they are fried in peanut oil?

Hot Dog Heaven
493 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, OH 44001
hotdogheavenohio.com

A few tears back I was researching the best hot dogs around Ohio.  A few followers reached out and suggested that I make my way to Hot Dog Heaven. What a treat. Delicious hot dogs and great tasting fresh-cut fries.  I can see why they are an area treasure.

Sparky’s Place
📍 1001 Broad St., Conneaut, OH 44030

It may be a Pittsburgh thing, but if you find yourself in Conneaut, Ohio, head to Sparky’s Place for one of their salads topped with French fries. Since it’s a salad, you will only feel half guilty about the fries.

Sunrise Inn of Warren
📍 510 E. Market St., Warren, OH 44481

You know the fresh-cut fries are going to be good when the waitress brings over a bottle of malt vinegar. They may be known for their pizzas and chicken, but their French fries are also worth a trip.

Vasili's Greek

Vasili’s Greek Cuisine
📍 1702 Merriman Rd, Akron, OH
facebook.com/VasilisGreekCuisine

I had been on the road all day, and before my next media event, I needed to grab a bite to eat. All I could find open nearby was a Greek restaurant. Who knew that when I sat down, it would set off a love affair with Greek fries? “Fresh-cut fries topped with onion, tomato, cucumber, and feta cheese. Served with tzatziki sauce.”

➡️ If you know a place you feel I should try, please reach out. I am always looking for more stops to add to my must-stop French fry list.

My Ohio Fun Road Trip Notes:
