A Historic Roscoe Village Road Trip

Pack up the car, put Historic Roscoe Village into your GPS, and hit the road! Summer is the perfect time to visit Coshocton County, where you’ll find beautiful outdoor areas, unique shopping and dining, and living history, all within Historic Roscoe Village. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the Canal Town Discovery Walk, a ticketed living history tour, and see what day-to-day life in an 1800s canal town was like. Watch metalworkers in the blacksmith shop, weavers using a loom, broom makers crafting a broom, and tour a canal-era doctor’s office. Living history tours are available 10am-4pm daily.

Because the tour is self-guided, there’s plenty of time to visit the many shops in the village. Dining is available at four restaurants in the village with favorites like onion rings, Texas-style BBQ, gourmet hot dogs, ice cream, sandwiches and coffee. There’s even a specialty bakery just for dogs. Leashed pets are welcome!

If you’re visiting on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, take a short drive or a scenic walk over to the Monticello III Horse Drawn Canal Boat Ride. Climb aboard for a 45-minute ride, where tales of canal-era life will be shared during the scenic trip by the Canal Boat Captain as two draft horses, Tim & Diesel, guide the boat down the one-mile restored stretch of the Ohio and Erie Canal. The boat is turned in Mudport Basin, one of many hand dug reservoirs along the canal, and then returns back to the Canal Boat Landing. Canal boat rides are at 1, 2, 3, and 4pm every Friday-Saturday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and Saturday-Sunday through mid-October.
